As many of you will remember our Rooftop Special series last Summer was a welcome addition to Vancouver’s music scene. The rare opportunity to hear house music outside while being surrounded by friends, both old and new, was something we knew had to continue. Our 2010 campaign begins with the launch of a new organization. Vancouver Urban Spaces Initiative (VUSI) is a non-profit society created to facilitate creative urban ventures. VUSI's goal is to revitalize our city’s outdoor spaces through the exhibition of music and visual arts and to provide a platform for local musicians, DJ and artists. Its aim is to bring people together, to embrace our surroundings, and to give people a different way to experience art.

With Summer upon us, VUSI is extremely pleased to announce our 2010 series that will celebrate our city in unique outdoor locations:

Courtyard Special, Saturday, July 24 and 31

New Brighton Special, Sunday, August 15

While good underground music will always be the basis of our events, we promise each installment will feature unexpected turns and surprises. We're striving to deliver events that are original and memorable.

This summer is going to be very Special.

On two consecutive Saturdays, July 24th and 31st, our newest chapter launches in an iconic industrial courtyard featuring a sun-drenched dance floor and a comfortable seating area. There will also be a bar with a full selection of drinks and a BBQ with organic and vegetarian options. This character space will be complemented with the sounds of soulful, classic house and lots of modern dance music.
